🍎 ’Tis the season for apples!

There’s just something about apple season that makes it feel like fall has officially arrived.

Now, Mother Nature may still be doing her own thing outside, but in my kitchen? We can absolutely pretend there’s a crisp breeze, leaves are changing, and sweater weather is right around the corner. 😂

Because ’tis the season for APPLES! 🍎

And honestly, apples deserve a little love. They’re easy to grab, naturally sweet, available in so many varieties, and can go from breakfast to dinner to dessert without breaking a sweat.

So Many Apples… Which One Do You Choose?

Not all apples are created equal, and that’s part of the fun!

Honeycrisp – Sweet, juicy, and super crunchy. One of my favorites for snacking or adding to salads.

Granny Smith – Tart, crisp, and fantastic for baking because they hold their shape and balance sweeter ingredients.

Gala – Mild, sweet, and great for everyday snacking. These are also delicious sliced into oatmeal or yogurt.

Fuji – Extra sweet and crunchy. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, this one may be calling your name.

Pink Lady – A little sweet, a little tart, and nice and crisp. Basically, she likes to keep things interesting.

Golden Delicious – Softer and sweet with a mellow flavor. They work beautifully in applesauce, pies, and other baked goodies.

And those are just a few! Try mixing different varieties when you bake—you can get a really yummy combination of sweet, tart, soft, and crisp.

An Apple a Day…

Turns out Grandma might have been onto something.

Apples provide fiber, vitamin C, antioxidants, and other plant compounds. And because they contain fiber and water, a whole apple can be a satisfying snack—especially paired with something like cheese, yogurt, or peanut butter.

And no, I am NOT suggesting we need to turn apple season into some kind of health-food boot camp.

Because sometimes an apple should be sliced up and eaten fresh…

…and sometimes that apple deserves butter, cinnamon, and a pancake. 😂

It’s called balance, people.

Apples Aren’t Just for Dessert

Of course, apple pie, apple crisp, apple cake, and caramel apples get plenty of attention this time of year. But apples can do so much more.

Toss chopped apples into a fall salad. Add thin slices to a turkey or grilled cheese sandwich. Pair them with pork. Add them to oatmeal. Make homemade applesauce. Throw them onto a snack or charcuterie board.

They’re one of those ingredients that can easily bounce between sweet and savory.

And speaking of breakfast…

I’ve Got a Yummy One for You!

This week I’m sharing a Baked Apple Pancake recipe that practically screams cozy fall morning.

Warm apples + a fluffy baked pancake = the kind of breakfast that makes an ordinary morning feel just a little more special.

And THAT is what I love about cooking at home.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen or make everything Pinterest-perfect.

Sometimes it’s simply about taking something as ordinary as an apple and turning it into something that makes everybody wander into the kitchen asking…

“Ooooooh, what are you making?”

Those are the little moments that make the kitchen the heart of the home.

So grab yourself a bag of apples, pick a few varieties you’ve never tried before, and enjoy the season.

Sweater weather or not…

I’m declaring apple season officially OPEN! 🍎
