Back to School, Back to YOU: A Little Self-Care Goes a Long Way 🎒💕
Back-to-school season is here!
New schedules. Earlier mornings. Practices. Homework. Packed lunches. Permission slips. And the nightly question that somehow still surprises us every single day…
“What’s for dinner?” 😂
Whether you have kids heading back to school, grandkids starting a new year, or you’re simply settling back into a busier fall routine, this time of year can feel like a LOT.
So while we’re making sure everyone else has what they need, I want to remind you of something important:
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It helps you have more energy for the people and things that matter most.
And no, I’m not telling you that you need to book a week at a fancy spa. Although, if someone wants to send me, I will bravely volunteer. 😂
Here are five simple ways to put a little more YOU into this busy season.
1. Create Your Calm Corner ☕📚
Find one little spot in your home where you can unwind.
Grab your favorite blanket. Light a candle. Turn on some music. Read a few chapters of a good book. Sip your coffee before it gets cold. (Imagine that! 😂)
Even 10–15 quiet minutes can help you reset.
You don’t need an elaborate morning routine or an hour of meditation. Sometimes self-care is simply giving yourself permission to stop doing for a few minutes.
2. Nourish Your Body With GOOD Food 🥗
This is a big one for me.
When life gets busy, the drive-thru starts calling our name. And boy, can it be persistent! 🍟😂
But eating at home doesn’t have to mean spending hours in the kitchen.
Keep things SIMPLE.
Prep some fruits and veggies for the week. Make a big salad. Cook extra chicken that can become tomorrow’s wraps, bowls, or sandwiches. Have a few quick meals you know you can get on the table without a lot of fuss.
A little planning and the right kitchen tools can make such a difference.
The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is making the better choice easier.
3. Pamper Yourself a Little Extra 💕
What makes YOU feel good?
Maybe it’s enjoying your favorite drink without multitasking. Maybe it’s sitting outside for a few minutes of sunshine. Maybe it’s getting your nails done, taking a long shower, or buying yourself the fancy coffee creamer.
It doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant.
Do something simply because it makes you happy.
You deserve to be on your own priority list, too.
4. Add a Little JOY ✨
Self-care doesn’t always look like rest. Sometimes it looks like FUN!
Watch your favorite feel-good movie.
Read that book that’s been waiting for you.
Call a friend.
Listen to a podcast.
Take a walk.
Turn up the music and dance around your kitchen while you’re making dinner. Bonus points if your family looks at you like you’ve completely lost it. 😂
Joy counts.
Actually, I think we could all use a little more of it.
5. Remember: Rest Is Productive Too 💤
This one can be hard.
We live in a world that celebrates being busy. There’s always one more load of laundry, one more email, one more thing we could be doing.
But sometimes the most productive thing you can do is REST.
Slow down.
Go to bed a little earlier.
Leave something on tomorrow’s list.
The dishes will still be there. Trust me—they’re incredibly loyal. 😂
Rest helps you recharge so you can show up tomorrow feeling a little more like yourself.

Remember: small steps can make a BIG impact! 💗
Back to You. Back to Balance. 💗
As everyone settles into new routines this school year, I hope you’ll create a routine that takes care of you, too.
Plan. Prep. Pause. Repeat.
Small steps really can make a big impact.
And when it comes to meals, remember—you don’t have to make complicated, Pinterest-perfect dinners every night.
Sometimes a simple meal around the table is exactly what your family needs.
Because at the end of the day, it isn’t really about what’s on the plate.
It’s about slowing down, coming together, and making those mealtime memories. ❤️
So tell me…
What’s ONE thing you’re going to do to take care of yourself this back-to-school season?
